About
TEAM CTHULHU has arisen again from the murky depths to unleash a new horror upon the world!
What is Plexus? Well that’s an excellent question! Unfortunately, it’s very difficult to answer. Plexus is a project taking all of our favorite things from other games such as World of Warcraft, Second Life, FPS shooters and old school MUDS, putting them in a blender, and pouring the results over a peer to peer network.
It’s like the ultimate virtual sandbox. Players can get involved at any level. They can just play the game as is, or they can build their own maps and adventures, or even take up scripting to change the very rules of the game itself! All this is done in real time while playing with your friends!
Features:
Built on Cube 2 – Uses the excellent Cube 2 engine as a base
Multiplayer – Play, chat, and build with your friends.
P2P Networking – All information is stored in a cloud. Models, maps, everything. No central server means that there’s no downtime, and no need to worry about which server your friends are on. Uses Free Pastry for communication
Editable maps – Create your own houses and villages to live in, in real time, cooperatively! Edit the dungeons that you are playing in. Sky’s the limit!
Randomly generated maps – Not in the mood for creating? Make a random dungeon to play around in!
Private maps – Want a little privacy? A place where you can create your very own house or village without interference from random people? Make a private map, and only you and your selected friends can play on it.
Linked Maps – Maps can be linked to each other, so you can make giant worlds spanning many different areas. Link your house to your friends’, and all your other favorite areas
Custom models/costumes – import md2 and md3 models from games like quake into the game on the fly, and use them, with animations and everything!
Chat system – talk to your friends, even if you are on different maps.
